Trevor Thompson, MS, LCMHC, LCAS

Hello, my name is Trevor and I’m thankful you’re here–whatever your current circumstances or struggles. I know how vulnerable it can feel to take that first step toward therapy, and I want you to know that I will do everything I can to make this a safe place for you. Whether you’ve experienced an unexpected life change, are feeling stuck in unhealthy patterns, or are experiencing inexpressible darkness that just doesn’t make sense, I can help you to process the pain, understand how your story makes sense, and overcome obstacles to achieve the goals you have for yourself.

I truly believe that you are the expert of your own life, so my goal is to come alongside you as a companion and guide to help facilitate your healing journey and to help you explore how you feel, what you need, what is important to you, and what you want to accomplish. I utilize several different therapy modalities, always tailored to meet your unique needs, such as Person-Centered Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). I strive to be present in your struggles, challenge you to make changes that reflect your values when you are ready, and pinpoint obstacles, habits, or patterns in your life that are keeping you stuck.

In addition to being a mental health counselor, I am also a licensed clinical addiction specialist (LCAS) and I have experience in helping people who are struggling with substance use. Addiction comes in many forms, whether it is smoking cigarettes on a daily basis, occasional binge drinking, or a years long battle with cocaine use. No matter what substance you are dealing with or how long your struggle, I can help you achieve your goals–whether that is breaking a bad habit, reducing how much you are using, or abstaining altogether. We will work together to explore your values, your intentions, and your hopes for your future.

I also love incorporating faith into therapy and I believe this can be so beneficial for your healing journey. As a Christian, I believe that God can set you free from any addiction you are experiencing and that He is the ultimate Healer in a broken world. Whether you want to incorporate faith into your therapy journey, and how much, is always completely up to you. My goal is to support you as you bravely do the difficult work of healing your mind, your body, and your soul.

And for a few more details if you’d like to keep reading about my background, I graduated from East Carolina University in 2020 with a MS in Clinical Counseling. I earned my Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist (LCAS) license in 2022 and have extensive experience working directly with addictions, co-occurring disorders, and severe mental illness (SMI), including Schizophrenia, Bipolar Disorder, and Schizoaffective Disorder. My goal is always to provide a safe space and to help you work through your symptoms to achieve a higher level of satisfaction and functioning in life. I also love working with individuals and couples, knowing that no matter the struggle for an individual it will inevitably impact close relationships as well.

Whatever your story, whatever brings you to the end of this webpage today, I want you to know that it matters. I would be honored to walk alongside you toward healing and wholeness, toward the goals you have for yourself, and toward a future filled with purpose and confidence and joy.
